SUMMER BEGINS!

So excited that the kids are all---all kids, not just mine--! Have a great summer, peeps!...I got to go to the pool with the Hornes yesterday---they got out at 11 and it was a nice couple of hours to get some rays and see how excited all the kids in their neighborhood were that summer begins! I remember so vividly walking to school that last day to get my report card and being giddy with excitement! Well done, kids , everywhere!

The Yard is full

The backyard is full and I couldn't be happier! As I watched the little ones play (and fight over toys, lol), my heart almost couldn't contain the joy. You might say that my backyard was as full as my heart! Love that the cousins can visit and love on each other. And give the parents a little break.....OH. THE. JOY.

P.S. Put our beloved MARY DORSETT on your prayer list. She is the wife of our minister, Lyle Dorsett and she is also our Deacon. She is the heartbeat of our church. She has her finger in every pie there and never stops. Never!  Until last week. She was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. That means the cancer is somewhere else but it has also has made it to her lungs. Please keep her in your prayers. Not only is she loved by everyone, she has been a prayer warrior for our family and each week, would say, "Lyle and I are praying for Jon to get a job here!" Well, does that tell you what a prayer warrior she is?!

Back from a Blogging Break!

Writing for 40+ days, it was time for a big Blogging Vaca for moi!  But, by taking a break, that also meant that I spent more time on other things. Some good/some not as good. (yes, back on Social Media is exactly what I mean!. Once again, old habits are hard to break, lol. Even after over 40 days of not peeking to see how others spend their time! )! But, some good, too--back in the craft room as well. I LOVE LOVE LOVE making "agape gifts" for my little Sunday School Class children!!! OH,   AND, I spent two weeks on Jury Duty. So eye opening . And heart wrenching.....(more on that another time)....

But the MAIN thing I've done is help Katie/Jon move. BACK TO THE 'HAM!!!!!!!!!! After much MUCH prayer--they are indeed HOME again!!!!!!!!! Jon has a brand new job he will be starting in a week (he gave a 2 week notice so he's got one week left) and then, they will be Alabama residents, once again! Since they have been married, the Cullens have lived away. First in Auburn and then to Madison, Alabama for the first 6 years. Then the move to our neighboring state: Georgia, for 2 1/2 years. And, specifically, Atlanta. They liked Atlanta fairly well---if you consider being over 3 hours away from family and having to fight horrendous traffic each day. (don't EVEN say Highway 280 traffic compares. It does NOT.Nor does driving across town compare). Often, it would take Jon almost 3 HOURS to get to work. (Yes, he could've driven to the 'Ham! !)! The only traffic comparable to Atlanta's is in L.A.  Or Chicago. Or the like. Horrible. It's truly AMAZING that many PEOPLE live in Atlanta, Ga!!!!!!!!!  Having said that, however, they loved their church and met some good people there. But, their hearts were ALWAYS turning home. Especially since they have a child who has medical problems and need to be closer to home so that they could have family help for the other children for his doctor's appointments. Needless to say, we are thrilled. Could it get any better? YES---they live about 120 seconds away. Right down the street from us, in Lake Cyrus!!!!!!!! They are going to rent for a year and then decide where they want to live in the 'Ham. (hoping they love our area and stay around here). It's so nice now to just jump in the car and drive her over some milk or diapers. It's the best! Welcome back, CULLEN CREW!

Looking forward to summer and getting to see the grands more. I love love LOVE summer.  Maybe it's b/c I was born on a hot day in July in Mobile, Alabama ! Looking forward to: fresh tomatoes/peppers and squash from my garden. And trips to the beach. And wearing cute sandals and sleeveless shirts. And letting the kids ride their riding toys in the back yard by the lake! But, I will also MISS going to see Mimi and taking her for a wheelchair ride outside the confining walls of the nursing home. I will MISS her smile. I will MISS her excitement upon seeing me walk in her room. But most of all I will MISS having her love and support she always gave me. Even at 101 years old.So, this summer will be bittersweet for me in that way. Tomorrow, "Mother's Day", will be the first Mother's Day in 64 years that I have not had my mother to hug and visit with on her special day. I have been watching old video clips I have made the past few days and smiling and crying at the same time....

Despite sadness not having my mother with me for the first summer since her death, I still say :Welcome summer. Bring me my vegetables. And walking barefoot. And sitting on the porch swing rocking my babies. Bring fireflies by the lake and complaining of hot Alabama summers.  Pull me into your "summer web", Mother Nature. I'm ready. And let the memories of my mother grow stronger as I see the love and support of her legacy in the eyes of my 9 beautiful grandchildren as they grow in summer sunshine. And love.

and........Happy Mother's Day to my mother in her new home. Heaven. I know it's a beautiful place and look forward to seeing you there one day.
